SIDE TABLE HEIGHT + 6 favorites under $500!

SIDE TABLE HEIGHT

The choice of side tables plays a crucial role when decorating a living room or bedroom. Not only do they serve as practical surfaces for drinks, lamps, books, and other essentials, but they also contribute to the space's overall aesthetic. However, one often overlooked factor is height, so I’m about to break it down and give you a Cheat Sheet so you can shop confidently and elevate with ease.

HOW TALL SHOULD A SIDE TABLE BE?

The general rule of thumb is the table should be within 2 inches of the sofa or chair arm. This ensures it's easy to reach and place items on the table without straining.

If you have armless furniture, the table should be within 2 inches of the seat height. For example, if your sofa's arm is 22" tall, a proper end table can be anywhere from 20" – 24" tall.

SIDE TABLE DECOR GUIDANCE

To determine where you need a side table, think of it this way: there should be a place for everyone in the room to easily put down a drink. Additionally, side tables can also be used to add extra lighting or to introduce a different color, texture, or material into the room.

Bonus Tip: Use nightstands as side tables to provide closed storage and a larger surface area for lamps and decor.
