3 STEP PILLOW STACK PROCESS
1. Sofa Throw Pillow Sizes & Combinations
Consider your sofa size before selecting throw pillow sizes and combinations to ensure everything is proportional when building your stack. Small/narrow sofas should use a 20”x 20” pillow as the anchor (largest pillow), standard sofas should use a 22” x 22” pillow, and large/deep sofas should use a 24” x 24” pillow before layering smaller pillows in front.
2. Mixing Patterns & Textures
My go-to mix for combining throw pillow patterns and textures is: a small-scale pattern + a large-scale pattern + a solid texture. Super simple! When opting for a double stack, I usually use a combination of a pattern (regardless of the scale) + a textured solid to complete the stack, but you can always keep the three-part equation by adding in a throw blanket.
3. Building The Perfect Throw Pillow Combination
Building the perfect pillow stack(s) is really up to the individual. Personally, my house is pretty minimal with one double stack in the chaise corner of our small sofa, but depending on your sofa style and size, you can do a variety of symmetrical or asymmetrical combinations.
