ROUND DINING TABLE SIZING CHEAT SHEET + 9 Favorites Under $1,000!
ROUND DINING TABLE SIZING
When it comes to maximizing space and creating a harmonious dining experience, a round dining table reigns supreme. Unlike their rectangular counterparts, round tables banish those pesky corners, transforming even the most petite dining areas into havens of comfort and connection.
This week I am bringing you my round dining table sizing tips, complete with inspiration, measurement parameters, and, of course, a round-up of my favorite round tables - all under $1,000!
ROUND DINING TABLE CHEAT SHEET
Round tables possess a magical ability to accommodate more diners without sacrificing comfort. Their smaller footprints, compared to rectangular tables of similar dimensions, allow you to squeeze in an extra seat or two, ensuring no one gets left out of the conversation.
A round dining table for four to five people needs a diameter of at least 45 inches; a table for six people needs at least 48 inches; and a table for eight needs at least 59 inches.
ELBOW ROOM OVER CHAIR WIDTH
My general rule of thumb for determining the number of chairs for a round dining table is to allow 24” x 15” per place setting - including the flatware, glassware, and a plate. What matters is the elbow room rather than the width of the chair.
Remember to factor in the placement of table legs when determining the seating capacity of a round dining table. The tabletop's dimensions alone may not provide an accurate representation of the available seating space if the legs are positioned awkwardly or at an extreme angle.
